Blue Spark from Phone line and 2.6mb bb?

    Hi guys,

Am having problems getting speeds on my line higher than 2.6mb . I posted my attenuation ratios a few weeks ago and was told that the stats meant that there was a problem with the phone line in my house.

So I went at the phone line, only to test the broadband speeds with all other sockets turned off except the master socket. Doing the test did not gain any speed. I did however, get a blue spark upon reconnecting the cables behind the master socket.

I have the old beige telecom eireann type sockets in the house.

Would anyone have any idea what could have caused this? Im assuming its an earthing issue but wouldn't have a clue where to start.

Cheers for all input on this,
    Dave
