Horeswood beat Castletown to win the Wexford SFC, final score was 3-9 to 0-11. The game was a lot closer than the score indicates, it was all square with 10 minutes to go. Castletown also had a horrendous number of wides, Horeswood were a lot more clinical with their chances.

St Brigids knocked out Kilmacud Crokes on Saturday. The match ended 8 points to 7 with the horrible conditions affecting the players.Mark Cahill and Paddy Andrews were immense for Brigids while Vaughan and Pat Burke disappeared in the second half.Shane Supple pulled off some great saves.

Plunketts cruised past O Tooles as expected.Quarter Finals are on this weekend with St Vincents v Oliver Plunketts Eoghan Ruagh as the mouth watering fixture.Vincents will be out for revenge as they were beaten early on in the championship when Plunketts came from 5 down in injury time to stun Vinnies.

I assume you mean John O'Loughlin ? Andrews has been very quiet by his own standards the last 2 games in the Championship.

to be honest they may as well not play the all-ireland football club championship for the next few years and leave the cup in Crossmaglen. They are meaner, leaner and playing football as it should be - man-to-man and using their feet.

Exaggerating a bit maybe but its hard to see anyone beating them for a few years. They are untouchable in their native county and they possess all the experience to keep going on and on and on.

probably put the jinx on them but they are arguably the greatest gaa team of all time - way ahead of some county teams.

Greatest of all time? Them's big words mrgaa1, big words indeed.

As excellent as Cross have been though, it doesn't say alot for the overall standard of club football in Armagh that they've been so completely dominant for so long (what is it now 15 out of the last 16?).

I can't help feeling they'd have been beaten a few of those years had they been in a county with a stronger club championship (they'd still have won a fair few for sure, but not 15 out of 16).

Dont think its that absurd a claim really, what they have already achieved is absolutely phenomanal and it doesnt look like slowing down anytime soon.

To dismiss their achievements by playing down the standard of club football in Armagh is a little unfair also, the Glen have in that time won 8 Ulster titles and 5 AI'S.

Persoanlly I think they are the greatest Club team of all time and if you take that further and follow on the lines that the club is the foundation and the cornerstone of the GAA then they are defacto the greatest GAA team of all time!

Interesting arguement actually and probably deserving of a thread of its own!

Yeah, he is having a great year with Brigids. His shot stopping and distribution is as good as Cluxton.

Having seen both close up, 2 unbelievable keepers but Cluxton shades it for me, Suppy's chance in blue will come eventually.

Dublin SHC Semi Finals last night.

Boden scored 6 goals on the way to beating Lucan and look to be perfectly set up for their 5th in a row. Lucan started with 2 and finished with 4 of this Dublin Minors on the pitch. Apart from Matt McCaffrey and despite each doing one or two good things ( Crummy's goal the obvious one ) the others looked way out of their depth when confronted by the likes of Paul Ryan, Conor McCormack etc. Malachy Travers was exceptional for Boden too.

In the other game O'Toole's wore Brigid's down with their big game experience to win by 5.Crucial two minutes just before the break when Brigid's missed a great goal chance and O'Tooles wend down the other end where Danny Webster scored a great goal. Michael Carton, Danny and Liam Ryan best for the Larriers who will have it all to do in the Final.Harsh red card for the full back for a late tackle on Daire Plunkett might cost them.

watched the Clare final and now watching the Kilkenny final - surely there are two things the GAA need to consider.
    1. Why are the best of our GAA players playing in such bad weather and at this time of the year - why can't the championships be wrapped up early summer when pitches are better and allows players to show their skills?

    2. our pitches - not sure where the Clare final was played but the local swimming pool may have been better. The pitch was extremely heavy. Why is it that rugby match's don't seem to have this problem with their pitchs? Do GAA clubs and county boards need more help and assistance in ensuring that their pitchs can cope better with wet weather? Is it the type of grass? Do we need more drainage etc....
Of course its been severe weather over the past 2 months or so but is that a valid reason?

    3. All goal mouths must be muck free. There is no excuse for goalmouths being as bad as they are. There are companies out there that provide the 3G surfacing for goals which are very, very good.

The Clare final was played in Cusack Park, it's right next to the river, they sold half of the land they had there during the boom to Aldi, there's no reason why the pitch is as s**t as it is.

I can understand why Kilkenny would be playing their final now, but Clare? They haven't played a county game since June, it's not as if we have a load of superstar players that have to be wrapped in cotton wool, we need to find players not protect them.

OK, rant over, well done Crusheen

Yeah, it was absolutly ridiculous that the Senior championship have been held up this long, give (like Clare) we have been out of the Senior championship for months.

Also, Tuam Stars beat Salthill/Knocknacarra in the SFC semi-final replay:

    Tuam Stars 1-08 Salthill/Knocknacarra 0-09

Saw the Vincents - Plunketts match on Saturday.

The match itself looked to be a mouth watering fixture but the quality of football was dour to say the least.Connolly and Mossy the standout players for Vincents with Ruairi Traynor turning in a decent performance.

Plunketts midfield won it for them.McConnell got the better of the exchanges against Fennell while Bernard had a quiet day by his standards.Jayo and Bernard acted more to setup the scores.

Vincents defense was cack. The second goal was farcical.Something you wouldn't expect at this level.Time for Vincents to re-jig their defense.

    Final score 2-09 to 1-09

In fairness, they've lost Paul Conlon to emigration and both Ger Brennan and Hugh Gill were out injured. Ger in particular makes a massive difference, especially at club level.

Galway hurling semi between Clarinbridge and Craughwell was abandoned due to the rain and will now be played on saturday. Winner meets Gort in the final the following Sunday.

Football final is in Tuam on Sunday. Corofin vs Tuam Stars. Neither will make any great impact in the Provincial/All-Ireland series. Galway club football is poor enough at the moment.

Clare hurling final sounds like it was a bit of a farce.

The Kilkenny senior county hurling final replay was won today by James Stephens, beating Ballyhale Shamrocks. The score was 1-20 to 0-15.

Eoin Larkin scored the goal. Jackie Tyrell and Colin Fennelly were sent off from either side during the match. It was a great match despite the poor-ish conditions. James Stephens got some fantastic long range scores in the 2nd half and deserved the victory. They also defended very strongly and kept Henry Shefflin very quiet.

Eoin Larkin was MOTM in my opinion, closely followed by Tomás Keogh and Philly Larkin.

    G'wan the Village!

Corofin won the SFC final today against Tuam Stars on a scorline of 0-16 to 1-06

Also, the All-Ireland club champions, Clarinbridge, are in to the SHC final next Sunday against Gort after beating Craughwell by 0-18 to 0-13.

Good to see hurling on the up in the west of the county (which is a predominatly football area) as Moycullen won the Intermediate hurling final by 3 points over Killimorday. Scorline: Moycullen 2-10 Killimorday 0-13

Ballyboden St. Enda won the Dublin final against O'Toole's 3-12 to 0-9.

'Boden were by far the stronger and more skillful team, O'Toole's forwards were a bit sloppy with the accuracy, and their defence was all over the shop, particularly the full back line.

Great to see a bit of a mix up in the championship this year though, teams like St.Brigids and O'Toole's and Lucan Sarsfields providing a different style and excitement to the usual teams every year. A great year altogether for Dublin hurling.

Ballyboden v O'Tooles was a very poor game. On the evidence of that Dublin hurling has a bit to go yet. Neither team would have a hope in the Galway championship.

A fully fit Ballyboden would give anyone a good contest. they are streets ahead of anything else in Dublin buit to say that they wouldn't stand 'a hope' in Galway shows how little you know.

I agree Boden would be competitive in the Galway championship, so I was a bit harsh on them. But O'Tooles and most of the other teams woud be only be decent intermediate standard in Galway, or poor senior teams at best. That's the reality. Of course the fact our club championship is strong doesn't count for much at intercounty level when we keep promising alot and delivering nothing. But let's see how Ballyboden get on against James Stephens in the Leinster Final (I'm guessing that will probably be the final).

I wouldn't rule out Oulart the Ballagh just yet. Remember, James Stephens will have played 3 weekends in a row and they will also be without the suspended Jackie Tyrell. It could be as good a time as any to catch them on the hop and to stop them winning Leinster.

novel pairing in the Tipp senior football final as kingpins Moyle Rovers take on the combo side of Thomas McDonaghs.

Moyle Rovers missing Declan Browne for the final but would have Tipp seniors like Peter Acheson, Sean Carey and Brian Mulvihill.

Thomas McDonaghs are a North Tipperary combination of 9 clubs (although only around 5 clubs are represented in this years panel). thev been around for about 5 years and this is there 1st time in the final. have 2 county seniors in the form of Philip Austin and George Hannigan.

its great to see a north tipp team making the final as there is generally very little interest in football in north tipp. wouldnt be one bit suprised if McDonaghs win it and are great value at 9/4.

All Ireland club football finalists St. Brigids (Roscommon) into the Connacht club final once again, beat Sligo champs Tourlestrane by 6 points.

They look a very good outfit, and play Corofin in the decider.

I was at that match, Brigids had a very slow start and missed a couple of good chances. Tourlestrane are a handy enough outfit and played well for some parts of the match.

Brigids were weak at the back and took a while to wake up in midfield, if they play like that against Corofin they will lose. The final is on in a fortnight at Brigids home ground Kiltoom. Its supposed to be an advantage though some will tell you they play better away!
