    Hi there,

My mother had some form of Sky TV which is now gone and with the RTE channels going soon she is dying to get some tv in for the winter.

I rang Dalton TV and they want €400!!!!!!! to instal this Saorview crap. Although it is a one-off cost there is no way she could afford.

A neighbour of a neighbour has bought a dish of €60 from Aldi and installed it for €50 and he can get some channels with that (is that legal).

What other options are out there apart from Sky and NTL which are too expensive.

I sent you a PM, one bit of advice I would give you is that the Aldi/Lidl receivers are fine however their dishes are pure crap.

If you already have a dish then just get one of these for €99 and you can pickup all the Free to Air UK channels like BBC, UTV etc. and if you don't need an aerial then all the irish TV stations as well like RTE, TV3 etc:

    Thanks for your help.

So get this box type thingy for €99 AND a good dish and we are laughing.

What channels can you get if you get both (a little lost here)

You get the the eight Saorview channels which you need a UHF aerial for. The dish gets you BBCs, ITVs & the rest of the free to air channels. The ferguson box takes an input from an aerial and a dish. Theres alot more info about the box in the satellite forum.
