Airconditioning trouble '04 Honda Accord iCDTi

I recently bought an 04 Accord Diesel and I noticed that the airconditioning isn't working. The air coming from the vents is nowhere near cold enough. I was hoping that this was just a system top-up job but when I bought the filler kit with the pressure gauge, and connected it to the low pressure valve with the engine running, aircon on full blast, the gauge went straight in to the red zone which said "contact your dealer, there is a different problem with your system".

Any idea as to what can cause the pressure at the low pressure side to be very high? Is there anything else I could check before going to a professional?

I attempted a "search" on the subject but got slightly frustrated :)

How long ago did you buy it ? Did you buy from a dealer or private ?

Bought the car about 3 weeks a go of local Dealer. Although there was no official written warrantee I know the guy well and any expenses made to fix this would be at his expense. I would jus like to find out a little more if possible just incase it was an "easy" fix without having to miss the car for long.

I hope u didnt put one of those diy gauges and bottles out of halfords. There a waist of money so wouldnt mind what the reading was its one of three possible faults 1 low gas 2 leak in the system or 3 the compressor is gone.easiest way to do this is go to a garage with a all in one aircon refrigernt tool which does a complete system test. and also puts die through ur system ive done afew courses on this so i no the ins and outs

Cheers, sounds like the way to go, finding one around here might be the problem though. Must start making some calls in the morn...

Its not something many indys would have but all main dealers do doesnt matter what make r model computer has all the data and should cost anywhere from 150 to 200 euro n that max well unless u need a new compressor

Problem solved, for now anyway. Decided to let some of the pressure of the system from the Low pressure side which worked. I then topped the system up with the kit (engine running aircon on full blast) and within 2 or 3 minutes the aircon was blowing stone cold air again and I could here it "clutching" in and out. It might indicate that there is a leak though so she will go back for a proper inspection on the full system with the Dealer.

I have an 02 accord, 1.8 petrol. the air con started playing up up in 2005. Would charge it and it would leak after a while. The problem was with the discharge hose - it's a common problem on accords - the hose leaks at the joints. On my car it's a D shaped pipe that comes from the compressor to the exchanger at the back of the radiator. repalced this and had it recharged independently. Sorted the problem. It's assembly no. 3 in the attached:

A leak can be verified by flourescent light - an air con specialist can do this, the air con fluid contains a dye. But agree, this should be covered uner warranty.
