Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The 9am slump

I didn't always like G Ryan but since he's gone, morning radio has gone to hell in a handbag. Tubridy has ruined RTE2, Marty has Slaughtered Lyric, the Rayman was always useless, John Murray seems to have gone walkabout from RTE1 (can't say I blame him) and Newstalk's 9-10 programming is just plain redundant.

The last couple of days I tuned into Cork 96 (a station I detest on so many levels) to listen to our own Hans Solo (better known as Neil Prenderville). I must say he is doing a better job at bringing out proper local issues than he ever did. But he lost me when he started into the obligatory competition giveaway nonsense.

In the good old days there was always the papers with Gerry at nine and Nob nation straight after the news at ten. But alas, tis no more.

Could never see any appeal in G Ryan and couldn't bear the guy - but yeah, that slot is only listenable when Anton Savage is filling in for Ray Darcy.

Yeah I agree the papers just after the 9am news is missing. Its dropped completely now from Tubbs (apparently to revamp the show!).

Nothing wrong with the 9-10 slot idea on Newstalk but its execution is very hit and miss. They need to sharpen up the content and use the time for something a bit more in depth.

They need to do something. How about Eamon Dunphy reading the papers.. That might be interesting. At least it would give Hook something to talk about.

The slump starts earlier - at 8.30am IMO. Anything after that on Morning Ireland or NT Breakfast is either sports, arty farty, human interest, survey results or some other flim flam.

Yes newstalk breakfast is over as a semi serious programme after the 8.30 news. 'Kids talk' repeats with lightweight Henry McKean going out against morning ireland for crying out loud.....
