Ironic that they've dubbed the summer tour after an Axl quote from a few years ago.

Have to admit to getting a a little tingle of excitement over all this. Absolutely loved this band back in the day and built a decent GN'R collection that I still have today.

I lost all interest though when Slash and Duff left and paid little attention to the various incarnations of the band over the years. I did go to see them in 06 at the RDS, mainly to see if Axl still had the voice but I never bothered with the later shows.

When it was announced that Slash and Duff were back on board I was happy, mainly for Slash personally, that they'd finally ended their long period of not talking. Now that this is happening I'm really curious to see what dynamic exists between them. Not expecting a 1987 style Guns love in but it's exciting to finally get to see Axl and Slash share the same stage together.

I would love to see Adler and Stradlin have some involvement, it's still not proper GN'R without them. Even a few cameos on tour ,particularly for Adler's sake as he's been so enthusiastic about getting original GN'R back together. Izzy is Izzy,he'd probably be up for the odd cameo and a rendition of 14 years without the headache of touring extensively.

Looking forward to tomorrow morning to see what transpires.:)

    Where'd you get that pic?

I was thinking it'll be a strange and probably thrilling experience for them too when you consider two of them were raging alcoholics for most of their heyday!

  • Registered Users Posts: 48,990 ✭✭✭✭Lithium93_

If you're excited, just try to imagine what Slash, Duff, and Axl are going through, or will be going through before going on early tomorrow morning. What I'd give to be a fly on the wall in those dressing rooms.

Also it's kinda cool they've come full circle, their first gig was at The Troubadour in June 1986, and now The Troubadour again in 2016.

I've a feeling Steven is on board in some capacity. I mean his silence is telling ever since this whole reunion was announced.. Would be something to see if it was just the Appetite 5 to come out tonight..

I'd say the "not in this life time tour" is a nod to the "when hell freezes over "tour the eagles did after saying they're never play together again
Can't wait for the corn flakes tomorrow morning to see how it all went someone will surely post up something on Twitter or something

  • Registered Users Posts: 48,990 ✭✭✭✭Lithium93_

The "Not in this life time" name for the tour, it's actually an Axl quote from 2012 I think..

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,634 ✭✭✭✭Ol' Donie

If the play in the UK, I'm splashing out. I don't care.

Ah yeah I know that I seen the clip earlier
It's in same vein as the Eagles tour back in the mid 90s when in 1980 Don Henley said hell would freeze over befor the Eagles would get back together
Similar to Axls response to a reunion a few years ago

I wonder will any of the Chinese stuff be played along with the classics.

I'm so jealous of the people who will see this gig. "From hollywood California. Guns N ****ing roses."

No cameras allowed at the event, so be interesting to "not see" what happens

  • Registered Users Posts: 48,990 ✭✭✭✭Lithium93_

Does the "no cameras" apply to the crowd, would imagine someone would be there to photograph the gig, Ross Halfin or maybe someone connected with the band like Robert John or Marc Canter..

10 dollars for a ticket god what a bargain for a piece of history

    Who plays that drum setup?

Quick Google image search shows most play a mounted tom hung from cymbal stand, bar Adder, who has single tom on standalone stand

It's Frank Ferrer's drum kit.. Certainly looks like his set up, but stripped down a bit, actually hard to judge given the angle of the photo.
