    Hello,
I've just put together the costs of running 6kW/h 24/7 together.

I have done the nightsaver and standard with the 6% off for direct debit and online bill. Can you verify if my figures are correct, some numbers are rounded up and "every bill" is based on 60 days!

    1333 every bill - Standard
    1018 every bill - Nightsaver

    Thanks

    Hi euser1984,

I'll put the calculations together on thread (this'll make it easier to tear them apart if I've gone astray). :)

So, 6kW/h 24/7; that would equate to 144 units per day, or 8,784 units per bill (using the average billing cycle of 61 days).

For the Standard 24hr tariff, the unit rate (incl. VAT) is 16c.
    8,784 x 16 = €1,405.44.
Minusing 6% (€84.33) for the Valuesaver discounts, that reduces the subtotal to €1,321.11.
Now we just have to add in the fixed charges: the PSO levy (€6.20 per bill, incl. VAT) and the standing charge (28.6c per day, again incl. VAT, so that's 28.6 x 61 = €17.45).
That brings the bill total to: €1,344.76

Now on to the Nightsaver (all calculations henceforth include VAT, to avoid repetition). I'll get the fixed charges out of the way first: PSO Levy (€6.10 per bill) and standing charge (39.27c per day, so 39.27 x 61 = €23.95), that's a subtotal of €30.05.

    6kW/h x 24/7 would break down as follows: in a 24hr period, that's 54 units at the night rate (i.e. 6 units x 9hrs), and 90 units at the day rate (6 units x 15hrs).
    Per billing cycle, that's 3,294 night units (54 x 61) and 5,490 day units (90 x 61).
    3,294 x 8.46c (night unit rate) = €278.67.
    5,490 x 17.09c (day unit rate) = €938.24.
    €278.67 + €938.24 = €1,216.91.
Minusing 6% of that (€73.01) for the Valuesaver = €1,143.90.
    Adding in the fixed charges (so €30.05 + €1,143.90) = €1,173.95

As you can see, my calculations have worked out differently:

    €1,344.76 for each bill (Standard)
    €1,173.95 for each bill (Nightsaver)

    Hope this helps,

    David.

    Hi euser1984,

They look accurate, yes. I got a total of €1564.95 for Standard, versus €1,364.59 for Nightsaver.

    Regards,

    David.
