    Hi Folks,

Just a note to all walkers, runners, cyclists - a new shared use trail - The Green Loop will be opened on the 2nd October ( next Sunday) , for National Trails Day.

The trail extends from the Dublin City (Phoenix Park) right out to Lucan in Co.Kildare along the Royal Canal and back into the War Memorial and Phoenix Parks along the Grand Canal Way. It links some of the parks and green spaces in the Greater Dublin region including the Phoenix Park, St. Catherine’s Park, Lucan Demesne, Griffeen Valley Park, Liffey Valley Park and the Irish National War Memorial Park.

The trail is only being opened for one day initially and depending on public interest it may be opened as a permanent trail at a later date.

A number of events are being organised in various parks along the trail and the Green Loop Trail Cycle which is being organised by the National Trails Office / Irish Sports Council. Details of this and all other events events being organised on the trail can be viewed on the website www.nationaltrailsday.ie

Trail is suitable for anyone to walk, cycle and run and while its there and open for use year-round, it will be waymarked and the barriers will be open on Sunday !
