Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

On another note some German media (telepolis - heise.de) has picked up on the guy and apparently he is not a 'trader' but an attention seeker who does a bit of speculating privately and it seems he is not even particularly good at that as his record seems to be a £10,000 loss over four years. The guy has about a £1,000 to his name right now.

The most amazing thing about the whole thing is to me that BBC gave him a forum when he seems nothing more than a little wannabe on steroids.

I'd expect that from the likes of SkyNews or so, but BBC?

What is also interesting is they didn't say what steps they took to verify he was a trader and they refuse to give further details and I'm guessing nobody got so much as a slap on the wrist for the mix up.

Sounds awfully like another state broadcaster I know :P

Anyway I think they probably just looked for someone in a rush, got someone inexperienced to find someone who seems to have googled independent trader and clicked the first link :P

I think that person now knows why you don't do that :P

GS may not rule the world, but the recent leaders of the Freeworld have been in hoc to GS more than any other political donor. SHOCKER!

See this is where I think there's a tiny bit of a disconnect between the world of economics and finance and politics.
The financial world can operate like that because Governments to this point have allowed it to. Ultimately, the banking / finance system and even the currency is accountable to Governments, they simply haven't opted to exercise any control over it because they either don't realise how much power they have, or they are being lobbied to such an extent that they are opting to sit on their hands because they cannot see any other options or are so in-bed with high finance that they won't access.

The problem for these guys, certainly in Europe anyway, is that if the situation is pushed to an extreme, you may not get a violent revolution your hands, what you will get however is democratic systems opting to elect much more radical (left or right of the spectrum) governments and then you will see pretty dramatic change in how things operate.

There will ultimately come a point when the paradigm shifts, and the general public will just get totally fed up with it.
