    A very interesting piece I came across regarding the bridges over the Liffey. Some great old photos too.

    Those pics of the renovation of O'Connell Bridge are superb for their age.

    Yes I do realise the article was written before it was built.

    The Samuel Beckett had a piece written about it and it was constructed after the Sean O'Casey.

    Strange that it's not mentioned is all.

    Found this: 'It was proposed by Dublin Corporation to apply the name 'Congress Bridge' to the this 'new and handsome bridge'. By way of compromise, the Dublin Port and Docks Board placed a plaque on the bridge: 'Butt Bridge . . . re-built 1932 . . . the year of the 31st International Eucharistic Congress'.
