Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Entry level framesets

    Question.

If you buy an entry level bike you sort of get a melange of entry level everything on it. But do manufacturers sell just the frame/forks on their own?

I've an old Colnago I've been winterizing, but my wife (who owns it!) wants to put the frame away. So, I've been wondering what the best way forward is. I have all the bits - decent training wheels, seat post, stem, bars etc and the colnago chainset is dura ace albeit 9 speed and old but it still works a treat. So instead of spending 800 to a grand on an Al frame C fork yoke new with sora or tiagra & cheap bars, wheels etc on it or something on it, or trying to find the right spec bike second hand & in budget, can you buy the frame set of an entry ish level specialized/ trek/ etc for like 4 or 500 quid or something, or do the big manufacturers only seperately sell expensive framesets and everything else as complete bikes?

A lot of the big ones only seem to sell their top end framesets, yes. I don't know why exactly, maybe they are afraid of losing out on OEM agreements if everyone decides to source their own parts.

Anyway, that aside, a lot of the online retailers sell basic framesets: Ribble, Planet-X, Canyon...

Off ya go, spend some money!

CANYON sell frames, online, and provide a discount if you give evidence of membership of a cycling club, see link.

Nice one. I checked them last week and it failed me find that for some reason, must have been looking at the ultimate Al, which is sold out.

    That could be a runner.
