To clarify, no candidate controls the litir um Thoghcan. They merely submit their information to the Sheriff whom I understand uses the electoral register.

I would have thought Martin that making an assumption on family names in a rural area would lead to mistakes. I know of several Jenkinson households in rural Lusk but they'd all get just one Litir if we applied your logic, for example.

Very easily managed at 1 The Street, The Town but not so easy when its a rural lane.

Thanks for that Alan, I agree in Rural areas, if is more difficult, however in our case, as I posted 4 Individuals, all consecutive on Electoral register, same address, it could be 4 individual houses, on the same lane, but unlikely, as to appear consecutively, they would all have to have build houses side by side.

Plus we had a visit recently from an Official from Fingal Co. Co who was '' checking the Register'', he confirmed all 4 occupants were in the same home.

We have a road in Rush with 11 families with the same name and another with 7  and some with 5 or 6 of the same name.

However with the Central Address Database now complete and just recently updated there is very little excuse for multiple leaflets from 1 candidate even in a rural area. This should be helped further by Postcodes when the come, if before the next election there will be absolutely no excuses.
The information to C.A.D has been updated every 10-12 months since An Post took on gathering the information. The information is very accurate in all areas with the minutest of detail gone in to the database. Even shed are identified on it.

Co Option of Councillor Matthew Waine to replace Councillor Ruth Coppinger following her election to Dail Eireann. http://meetings.fingal.ie/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=129&MId=4081&Ver=4

the AAA ran 4 candidates in Mulhuddart, Coppinger got elected council but she also got elected to Dail, Matt Waine SP didn't get re-elected in Castleknock, so the Socialist Party is co-opting him into Mulhuddart.

The reps for Lusk were all present and spoke fairly well, without the usual party political speel, at the public meeting in the Round Towers in June for the information meeting about the biodigester planning application.

I'd say the average age was much lower than before the election.

Here's how our Local TD, and former Minister for Health is viewed by his peers,

    Fair/Unfair,

    http://www.newstalk.com/James-Reilly-dismisses-title-of-worst-health-minister-in-history-of-the-State
Dr Keith Swanick, a GP from Mayo, said: "The previous minister for health did more damage to the health service than any other minister for health in the history of the State and it's even more embarrassing because he is a GP."

Many of the 150 delegates criticised political decision-makers for implementing policies which they say are designed more to bolster election votes than to create a safe and equitable health service.

I have to say, I found his handling of the Health Ministry, embarrassing, self seeking, and opportunistic as to self promotion.
When caught out on promoting Balbriggan and Swords for new Health Centres, and the charge by his former Labour Jnr Minister, of ''Stroke Politics'' the writing was on the wall,

Predictions for the next Election in DCN.......Reilly Eliminated.......

dug into the council's moderngov meeting system and found the meeting attendance record links that were hidden

http://meetings.fingal.ie/mgAttendance.aspx?XXR=0&DR=01%2f06%2f2014-26%2f07%2f2030&ACT=Go&UID=676 which you can match the UID from the list of councillors http://meetings.fingal.ie/mgMemberIndex.aspx?bcr=1

use the links in this spreadsheet to view stats from start of this term
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1t6kzKaEmpbuX3bDMTTss5Fgpf5Llfaomvgoz9xEYYr4/edit?usp=sharing

Nobody goes below 90% attendance, this includes monthly and area meetings, it recoeds meeting where notice/apology has been recieved for non-attendance and also where an apology wasn't received, Im sure people have their reasons for not attending,.. work, attending other council business, illness, family etc, not a reason not to show the record.

attendance records for individuall meetings http://meetings.fingal.ie/mgMeetingAttendance.aspx?ID=4252 per Meeting ID http://meetings.fingal.ie/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=129&MId=4252&Ver=4

Folks, we are down one TD this evening.

Clare Daly has been incarcerated in Limerick Prison, according to RTE.

Don't panic she will probably be back on the first train in the morning.

I think she was "inside" for an hour and a half. Great justice system we have. Don't pay a fine, and then get a stop and go penalty from the justice system.

No doubt the fact that she 'did time for the cause' will add to her street-cred with the anti-austerity voters across the constituency.

I wonder if she can claim a mileage allowance, for the journey back from Limerick, or maybe they gave her a Voucher for the Train.

I thought I better post the news here , seeing that the election is over,I got a letter from that nice Louise O'Reilly and Cllr Malachy Quinn SF this morning,it was't to me personally it must be said,it said - Dear Resident's , but it was nice all the same.
Now the letter was to inform all and sundry ,that they will hold a joint clinic in Murray's of Lusk, every Friday afternoon from 1/2pm.
I nearly fell over me self with the shock,so soon after an election,so kudos to them ,is't that whaat they say.
Hav't had any letters from Alan some thing or (had to think)what's his name,O yes Darragh some thing, never got one from Claire, she probably too busy writing to imself and her friends in France.
There's an article about that Alan Farrell chappie , he's supposed to be a Td,in this week's North County Leader .... coul't even be bothered with the link, they should stick an L plate on him ... all right the link is here ,, rivetting stuff .. not .. http://www.northcountyleader.ie/2016/05/24/disappointment-as-farrell-is-overlooked/

Edit ,In fairness to Claire ,looking in on Vincent Browne tonight , at least Claire is getting involved in the Dail, to some extent re the Mc Cabe debacle, out of 5 Tds in the county, she's the only one I've heard speak in the new Dail to date.

You must live in what they consider a "disadvantaged" area of Lusk so. Because the in SF do not post letters to the more "advantaged" parts of Fingal, no support base you see. This is probably a move to erode Brendan Ryans left leaning Support Base in the Area.

O'Reilly was parachuted in from an Urban constituency, she is a hard line Union rep much like Daly and has no Clue of what is needed for a constituency like Fingal IMO where there is generally good facilities amenities and employment, But She campaigned in the disadvantaged areas of the county promising to abolish water charges, so got the vote.

Farrell was the only incumbent in Fingal to hold public meetings in Rural Fingal, in the run up to the election. He holds regular clinics too, is a supporter of development and growth as well as public projects in the region (such as Metro North, Broadmeadow Way, Dublin Airport Expansion etc._

Daly's Marxist Polices, along with her support of Mick Wallace, a corrupt developer who owes the tax payer 2.5 Million in unpaid vat make her a laughing stock! She's waging a personal vendetta against the Gardai.

edit_ Farrell also was speaking in the Dáil this week about Insurance Companies hiking up their premiums without qualitative evidence to support the increase AFAIK.

I didn't get a letter from SF, so do I feel " advantaged"

Farrell held some meetings before the election was called, so he could put up posters before the allowed time, they were plastered all over Lusk.

Everyone was in favour of Metro North, but the Country can't afford it.

I agree Daly and Wallace are a joke double act, the photo's of them inside the perimeter at Shannon, wearing High_ vis jackets.........Hello.....we are over here, if they wanted to get near the plane , combats, and crawl through the grass.....idiots.

Then the fiasco of the arrests, and release from Limerick Prison, a total joke.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 556 ✭✭✭dslamjack

Well it was really a leaflet drop , but it came the same time as the post, and we got another yesterday morning as well, but the real boss threw it in the green bin as soon as it came in.
It was some thing to do with getting the Rush Garda station reopened.
Yep Claire and imself are some combo,Martinn I don't think they were released from Limerick Prision,I reckon the prisoners had them thrown out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,300 ✭✭✭martinn123

Reopen Rush, isn't that for sale, see some fund raising banner outside, trying to raise funds.

Better if they actually open Lusk, to the public, as far as I can see it's used for breaks, coffee etc but never open.
This despite the promises made by the Super at public meetings in the area, that Lusk would be open, and not a rest house.

Well James is going to do great things in the Seanad, thats the lead story in this weeks N.C Leader.
He say's the Seanad needs reforming ,he's not wrong there ,I'll say nothing about Enda appointing a yank,(just as long as they don't pay for his flights).
James say's he want's to sort the Metro North and the Blue Flag's among other things, and tourism among other things.
    Full story here ... http://www.northcountyleader.ie/2016/05/31/reilly-embraces-seanad-role-with-gusto/

In this week's Fingal Independent an interview with Senator Reilly said he hoped to use his seat in the Seanad to focus attention on issues that are important to the people of Fingal.
He also makes it very clear he will be running for re-election to the Dail in the next election if he is put on the ticket by the party.
It seem's James is gong to be around for a long time yet .... Full interview ... http://www.independent.ie/regionals/fingalindependent/news/the-life-of-reilly-34758288.html

    I see
J P. Browne is retiring his position on Fingal CoCo.
Can't post the link but Alan Farrell posted a Tweet earlier today.

That was a short career in politics ??

    Thoughts.
