New KOM's don't seem to be adding to the list..weird :|

http://www.strava.com/pros - You could do a cross check with the Giro list.

I expect to wave goodbye to my top 10 position between Lusk and Blake's Cross! :(
I've a few KOMs including the full Lusk bypass where Stava count those taking the shortcut through Lusk, so they will definitely go (the Giro riders will essentially be taking a 700m shotcut to steal my titles!!:P). Reckon I've got 7 KOMs to lose on Sunday ...

One way I've tried to retain something is by starting or ending a couple of segments on the bypass as the Giro racers won't be recorded on those.

That's my 4th on the southern side of the ring road gone also! I'd say your KOM may be safe. They're unlikely to be averaging over 55km/h there.

The first round of KOMs have fallen, Marco Bandiera doing most of the damage today. Seems to be 4 Giro riders using Strava

Just going back to the KOM notifications that was raised earlier in the thread, I received one yesterday and when I went searching around the site it seems that the Privacy options in the settings might be the issue for some. You can set when and for what you get notifications so those that don't get any notification probably have deselected this option.

I had two KOMS taken from me yesterday for ones I did not know existed, pretty stupid ones going through 3 lights that I know are staggered to prevent speeding or at least that's my view of the light sequence.

Only 4 of mine gone, but I'm ahead of him (alas only in 2nd place still) on one, and a second behind him on another. The good news is Strava now seems to differentiate between the Lusk by-pass and going directly through the village which has saved a few I was expecting to lose

I would add that all mine were done solo - no leadout, unlike for those guys today!!!

    From 9th to 13th!

(Only 4 Giro riders seem to be on Strava - unless others haven't uploaded yet).

This is what the e-mail looks like

Uh oh! marco bandito just stole your KOM!

    Hey Beasty,
You just lost your KOM on Blakes X to Swords to marco bandiera by 14s.
Now get out there, have fun and be safe.
    -Your friends at Strava

"now get out there" indeed! - give me a peloton travelling at that speed and a couple of functioning arms and I would

He took the KOM in eleven segments in a row! (and many assorted others).

To anyone who has rode this segment, how safe is it and what sort of quality are the roads?

Jeez yeah...an urban environment with multiple sets of traffic lights and other side roads, dozens of private residences, bus stops, and a foreshore car park where little old dears drive to walk their doggies. What could possibly go wrong at 180bpm, head down in the drops!?

It's on a dedicated cycle track.

It's on a dedicated cycle track.

One that is free of the aforementioned old dears and doggies? Perhaps Dublin cycle tracks are ped-free and dog-free but the ones here in Cork are anything but and a lot more dangerous than the road at anything more than 15-20km/h.

It's funny you should mention 'multiple sets of traffic lights' because that's exactly what the Strava Rep said the flag was about! Looks like we've found our culprit, nice work!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,874 ✭✭✭Zyzz

And just for some light reading, the segment leading into that one that was flagged

    18,610 Attempts By 2,536 People

18K+ attempts with no flags, as soon as I get the KOM..flagged

Ah, no. I haven't lived in Dublin for 10 years, and haven't been on that road for probably 14-15 years. More to the point, I've never flagged any segment.

    It's fine, road is good

For research purposes I went out on a route covering that segment just now. I had it to myself.

Like all public areas you are liable to meet anything along there, but visibility is good and it's no problem tipping along at 30-35kph most of the time.

    What about at 40kph?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,131 ✭✭✭Dermot Illogical

    What about at 40kph?

I usually hit 40+ along there if there aren't too many moving hazards about. With favourable winds I've gone faster, probably closer to 50.
I usually stick around 30-35 when it's busier.

Jesus lads now this one is gone aswel. Absolute nonsense.
