Hi when we were renovating our house we ran CAT 5E cable from all rooms, all these wires terminate in our office
I have UPC connection and currently using a linksys router (WRT54G). I need a patch panel, am I right in thinking this is the only thing I require or do I need a
switch.

Can anyone recommend a patch panel at a reasonable price.

A patch panel doesn't do anything, its just where your cables terminate to ethernet rj45 sockets. You're best get a 6u cabinet, patch panel and a switch (rackmount at a later date, a cheap one with 8 ports would get you going for now) will be needed to share your connection to every cable
