If it's not bad enough that the Enterprise looks like something ripped out of Star Trek Legacy they actually managed to incorrectly place the cropped ship over the planet.

If that's not a faked image then that company just sucks.

Im so shocked that it passed quality control.

Im cancelling my preorder and waiting for fan feedback on the set before forking out 70 euros.

how blu-ray.com gave the sets picture quality 5 stars with that shot included confuses me..

I've not pre-ordered so if Season 2 manages to get a good discount in the January sales I might get it but that's depending on user reviews after it's officially released.

So what with the second season being released in the U.S today (we have to wait until next week), Trekcore have posted a selection of stills from the 1st episode 'The Child'. Some of the shots actually look pretty good, not reaching the level of season one's effects but still good. But in the same episode some of the VFX shots look washed out. A pity. Will be interesting to guage fan reaction in the U.S over the coming days.

And one final comparison shot between S1 & S2. S 2 shot looks pretty good until you see the difference lol. but all in all, not a complete disaster.

Rather than being converted, it just looks upscaled & smudgy. There's a very big difference in the contrast between the two :(

Looks good, although it's a shame the cinematography took such a dive after the second season. The first two seasons had such a distinctive look.

another blunder has been spotted by a fan watching season 2- look to the right of the frame and look closely. this time not nearly as bad as the last, but still there nonetheless. Thank God the outsourced company have been fired and wont be involved in any future seasons

 How does that get through quality control? I mean for the love of god.

Yes, it's small and in motion most people probably wont notice......but is that the point? I mean what about professional pride and standards?

Nothing would surprise me in season 2 after the last ship cropping.

The annoying thing is there will be no disc replacement program like there was with S1. Because the flaws in season 2 are infrequent, regardless of how obvious they are, CBS would see it as too cost prohibitive to do it. I just hope whatever company is working on Season 4 will keep things CONSISTENT and to the look of seasons 1&3!!!

I would imagine alot of the assets, software and techniques from seasons 1 and 3 would be forwareded to the season 4 crowd. It seems to me as if the season 2 crowd were working from scratch.

If that's the case then CBS are as much to blame as HTV (the outsourced company) are. CBS should have given them as much help as possible so this didnt happen. exact same VFX shot, done from scratch by HTV

    Season 1

    Season 2

Why that shot wasn't simply ported over to save the second team a lot of work is an absolute mystery!

Those last two images are just something unreal, at least now with the outsourcing known to be half a**ed CBS might demand a preview before release.

MS paint could do a better job on that last image comparison.

Sorry mods for double post but I believe this deserves it.

    That comparison only gets worse!

I know I've gone a little crazy with comparison shots between S1 & S2 but I think it's worthwhile knowing what ye are letting yourselves in for by buying S2.

Season one VFX shot from 'When the bough breaks':

    http://tng.trekcore.com/hd/albums/1x17/whentheboughbreaks_hd_300.jpg

Season two EXACT SAME VFX shot from 'Q Who':

    http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/9804/shot3y.jpg

Now, many stills from season 2 look really good, so I do think the positives outweigh the negatives.

But seriously, to REDO A SHOT THAT DIDNT NEED IT AS IT HAD ALREADY BEEN DONE FOR S1 - THATS JUST RIDICULOUS ON SO MANY LEVELS

got season 2 today and have watched the first 3 ep's. first impressions a few noticeable things some shots seem to be a little sharper than others, a little grainy in places. some effects aren't up to the very high standard of season 1 but for me its not that big a deal (so far anyway) still is stunning and i don't think it should be a reason not to buy

anyone know the sales figures for season 1 & 2 ??

TheBest of Both Worlds part one &two to be released as a movie on one disc on its own on the same day the season 3 blu ray is out. Along with extra features the main set won't have. While its great and all to get to see part 2 before season 4 comes out, I feel a little ripped off at being asked to pay extra that in my eyes should just be included in the set. Not that I'm surprisedor anything, Paramount have always tended to rip off Trek fans becausethey know they can

Come on now.... It's not really a rip-off is it? You will get it included in the set - half in the season 3 set and half in the season 4 set.
