Hi there, I'm writing on behalf of a friend who's in a spot of bother.

He's currently working in a cinema without a contract (I advised him over a YEAR ago to get something), and he's now gone from full time to less than 10 hours a week. Some days he's only called in to work for an hour, which isn't worth his time in petrol costs etc etc. Is there any law in the minimum amount of works worked in a single day?

To top this off, he's also without any kind of benefit. He's been cut off jobseekers benefit even though he applied for plenty of jobs every week, and all the required documents to claim for it. Where does he stand in this with regards to his job?

The only silver lining is that he's only paying €35 a week rent
