I'm looking to get myself a wireless network card for my new desktop (college accomadation decided not to give us any form of wired connections )
anyways - I have 2 free PCI slots on my motherboard so I need either a PCI card or a wireless USB stick...

would I be better going for the PCI card or for a USB key and is there any noticeable difference in signal strength or performance between them - and has anyone any suggestions about which ones to pick... the wifi signal is coming from just outside the apartment so 1 wall away basically so having a huge massive strong range isn't that important as my laptop and phone can both pick up basically a perfect signal no matter where in the apartment you are....

I just want one that meets the 802.11n standard and works with Linux (Ubuntu or Mint) and won't break the bank...

seen this one here on amazon which would seem to do the job

    any opinions or suggestions :)

    thanks

I have that exact one. The router is on the ground floor behind the TV (in a corner) and my PC is in the attic (above the first floor), and my PC is surround by wall/desk on three sides. Obviously not the best set up for wireless transmission, however I always have a good signal, no problems whatsoever. Highly recommend that card in conjunction with a wireless-n router.
