Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    NapoleonInRags shows that sometimes luck plays a part. You just have to grab that shot when you see it. May even earn you the POTW. Well seen and captured.

    Super shots. Very diverse selection too, from abstract to portrait. I'd love to hear how that lightning was captured.

    All great shots, congrats, nice to be in among all of them !!Here is some background on the lightning shot, its sort of right time right pace right time that got the shot, everyone asks did ya put in the lighting !!....er em no ! ive posted another on in the random photo thread that got 2 or 3 flashes within the one exposure and looks its a tighter crop and bit mad looking lightning wise and looks a bit too unreal! the shot above was the first frame captured !
    some more can be seen at http://www.flickr.com/photos/mickoreilly/

    Hold on there.....Ctrl-V !!...Image of Lightning striking the Eiffel tower in Paris on Saturday 20/08/2011, just got back to the hotel and the wife commented that there was lightning outside took a quick look on the balcony of the room in the hotel brighton which had a good view of the tower and there were flashes at least every 30 - 40 seconds and it was getting closer, had no tripod so i grapped the side table from beside the bed, took the drawer out, flipped it upside down put it on top then put the waste paper bin upside down on top of that to get a clear and steady view over the bars.
    Got about 3 or 4 shots with lightning in them, had shutter open for about 25-30 seconds a shot with noise reduction on, everytime the camera was performing noise reduction and there was lightning the words 'aaaahhh s**t !!' could be heard over the thunder..... ;)
    nothing major done to the image, just basic white balance, curves and slightly cropped.

    was chuffed with this shot, got a 20x30 aluminium backed print of it for the wall at home !!

    @Kelly1:
    Can I ask what PP you did to this? I recenlty got the free month trial of Topaz B&W. I'd be very happy if I could get this kind of finish to some portraits of mine.

    suggestion for the mods/admin: why not make a subforum for all the photos of the week? It'd make nice and easy browsing...

    We have a Search function which will do this already :)

    Fair enough. But for a new visitor they won't be aware of these threads. And it's still simpilier if forum already exists to browse.
