Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey all,

I'm currently putting together a training programme and I'm wondering which muscles in the legs are the most important in order.

    Quads, Hamstrings, Calfs

I'm just wondering, as the most important muscles are ones I can do more work on.

    Cheers in advance

They are all important, but I guess the glutes and the quads do the most work. How are you intending to target different muscles? When you are on the bike, the muscles will naturally fire as you pedal. If you intend on doing gym work for it, well it will never ever be as beneficial as actually getting out on the bike. There is more to cycling than just strong muscles.

Getting faster is easy, you just have to cycle like a mad bastard for a few hours a week.

Getting faster without getting injured is harder, so I would focus on injury prevention, e.g. strengthening core, back and certain leg muscles so that you can cycle with good form and your muscle groups act in a balanced way.

As you may have noticed my times have been getting worse, but in the last few times I've been out I've been up against some horrible winds and winter conditions...

So I've been hoping to move into the gym over the winter to do a mix of weights training as well as using an exercise bike...all as a part as a full body training program
