I've heard they cost a fortune - strange looking animals I have to say.

If you are looking for something exotic and can't find a sphinx breeder, I know someone who has a litter of Persian kittens. Divine. PM me if you want details!

+1 on DaddyO sphynx. I know them and they are extremely ethical breeders with a huge passion for sphynx cats. They show regularly and their cats all have huge personalities and are so friendly and people orientated. They are really promoting the breed at cat shows, changing peoples pre conceived ideas Of bald cats.
There is a cat show coming up in Knocklyon on the 23rd oct, pop along!

another +1 for DaddyO Sphynx. I have two of their Sphynx and they are fantastic cats, carefully bred, beautifully socialised and an all round joy to live with.

Are they expensive to buy ?

Sphynx would be on the more expensive side of the cat world, couldnt tell you for sure. But they are still rare enough and a breeder will have expenses like importing fresh healthy lines. You can pick one up for a couple of hundred quid cheaper but unfortunalely you could end up with a very sick kitty and/ or someone looking to make a quick buck. Like any breed the health checks/scan/ pediatric neutering/worming/ gccfi registration /possible outside stud fees etc will all determine the cost andd if a breeder is doing ped neutering the kitten will stay for longer, pro til around 16 weeks so that can build up quite a food bill!

To get a healthy kitty from a reliable breeder (which I believe is defo the better decision in the long run) ur looking at 1000-1300 squids me thinks.....expensive but well worth it in my eyes

Its in the Knocklyon community centre, Idrone road ( behind superquinn). It should be open to the public from about 1230 til 430.

Are they prone to skin problems by any chance ?

not sure bout that one, i think their skin does need extra looking after tho

They aren't prone to skin problems but because they don't have fur to disperse the natural oils produced by their skin they need to be bathed regularly, some need a weekly bath. The also need to have their ears and nails cleaned and daily eye cleaning too. They are fairly high maintenance and if you get lazy about it, you'll have plenty of Sphynx grot to deal with :D
