JVC GZ-HM445 Full HD Flash Memory Camcorder ~ your opinion for school use?

    I am thinking of buying this camcorder for use with my 5th & 6th class (Primary).

    We're in need of a fairly ok camera for video work. The pupils will be using it to make short films etc.

    I've sourced one here in Peats but just wonder if it's ok for our situation?

    • Does the camera work better on SD or SDXC cards and what's the difference? What capacity would you recommend we get?
    • The specs says that it accepts two cards .... any particular sizes recommended if using two cards simultaneously?
    • Any recommendation for easy to use out of the box software for kids to use for video editing?

    But I found this review on trusted reviews:

    It said "It shoots AVCHD at 1080p rather than the 720p Lite variety"

    It's given a 9 out of 10.

    If I buy should I be looking for SD or SDXC cards and what capacity should I be aiming for?

    We'll be recording the usual school related stuff ... matches, plays, sketches etc. but I want the kids to do some basic editing as well.

    From what I read, AVCHD is extremely resource hungry and the editing PC needs to be of a high spec.
