So i live in an estate in Castleknock
Half the estate has UPC availability
    The other half doesn't
    We don't
    I rang and asked why
They said it's cause someone didn't allow them to put lines across their house
I know for a fact they put new lines across my house last year

    Anyone know anything about this?
    Anyone experienced anything like this?

I was considering saying to them to sort out the problem or I'd remove their new lines from my property.

Call through to the sales dept and they can get someone out to check.

That's the department I called through.
They said it "might" be someone not allowing the lines across.
And said our house had no availability.
House number 70something to 100 and something hadn't got it.
    Where as either side did.

But as I said we have new lines outside our house.
We can get the TV. Can't understand why not the broadband.
They said they'd get back to me on it but will they.

If it is someone who's not allowing it across their house I'd like to know who so I can confront them, I've lived here 25 years and know everyone in the estate.

Our Eircom lines are absolute rubbish, can get max 4mb on them. Useless.
Joke in a country that prides itself on being at the forefront of IT.

I was wondering has anyone else encountered such a problem???

PM me the account number and I'll get it checked out for you?

huh well in my opinion the best thing to do is to forget about UPC altogether and go with sky.
Sky is so much better in so many ways. Also I'm sure you have tried to ring the customer service with UPC. Its of a low standard. They actually hung up on me once as they couldn't answer my question.
Go with sky, you'll thank me later

I don't have an Eircom account number cause we switched to Vodafone.
    Which is also rubbish.

Sky dont do broadband here until mid to late 2012 unfortunately.

UPC is the only one I can see that's useful so I want to see if anyone has had a similar problem to see if they got around it somehow. Vexing!

I have sky now but used to have UPC.
The numbers from 75-100 in Park Avenue can't get it for some reason.
    So annoying.

I am in the exact same situation here in Dublin 7, every single road surrounding ours has upc availability for tv, broadband and phone, yet our road can only receive tv, our road has been fully wired by upc but when we phoned upc support we were told our road needed another upgrade despite having new wiring installed recently this year. I am stranded with no internet until they get back to me unfortunately :(

They didn't get back to me since Monday. Rang again, got another bunch of excuses. They are getting a technician to look at the case apparently. I'll believe this when I see evidence of it.

Asked about what the new lines I allowed them to put on the front of my house last year, (even though I didn't have UPC at the time), were for if I could get TV before they were there. They had promised at that time they were to deliver faster broadband.
I was in a Vodafone contract at the time so couldn't avail.
Now that I want to they are making excuses. I'm going to press them on this as those lines are useless to me and should come down if I cannot make use of them.
