I think Joe is reading this thread and is picking this topic to wind us up. The guards are not above the law, end of story.

And he throws in a dig at Dubliners, just for good measure?

Glad he is an ex-Garda, he seems to be completely blinkered.

Old style Garda on the phone here.....

"bit of a beating is alright".........."joystick malfunctioned"........"young girls in the force not suited to a Saturday night"......."only one Garda involved at the start"... conveniently forgetting that several more joined in... etc etc etc.

Living back in the 1950's that wally. I suppose driving home after having 8 pints after coming off duty is alright too.

One of the members involved used his role as CCTV operator to try and hide the assault in question as well.
That underhandedness is as disturbing as the assault itself IMO.
It shows a closing of ranks and a disregard for the law they're sworn to uphold...

Brendan "has" to accept the verdict of the jury.

    That's nice of him.

    "He resisted arrest"

So that's the green light to kick the shít out of someone. Got it.

"He had no long lasting injuries".

    Right so, beat away then.

He was urinating in a doorway - so someone's house or business, who then has to clean it up the next day.

Agree the reaction was over the top, but I hate the way we are so blase about someone essentially defacing someone's property.

Years ago one night in Terenure I came across a guy actually urinating into a letterbox (his buddy was helpfully holding the letterbox open for him) When I remonstrated with him I got the height of abuse.

It just really bothers me that some people show such little respect for property of others....

A lot of things are news to Brendan....the efficacy of the trial by jury system for one.

This Brendan fella is very unaware of the evidence... for one who is coming on to defend these guards.. I remember seeing the CCTV footage on the news myself....

I'd say he was some guard..

Sure who needs evidence? - His contributions give the impression that the Gardaí's behaviour in this case was normal behaviour.
