The bank wont let him pay back his mortgage early.

Hardly a surprise since it means they would lose the interest.

Why don't you put the money in an account, and set up a standing order to pay the mortgage every month from it.

    Non-story.

It's a standard condition for early payment of a loan.

Is Joe using markers in the background??

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,351 ✭✭✭✭Harry Angstrom

Seems like Joe is just marking time today.

I can't believe that not one person didn't ring up Liveline over the past couple of weeks to complain about the so-called household charge/property tax. Looks as if Joe was doing his Labour buddies a favour by not covering it on his programme.

    Terms and conditions mister.

And NO you don't have to leave the country, seeing as you have the money. Put it away and pay by standing order. Simple.

    "My daughter's mother-in-law"?

FFS, why don't these people ring in themselves?

The giant colouring in book of 2011.

Call me paranoid, but when I'm carrying lots of cash it's tightly rolled and stuffed down my jocks. Gets some funny looks in the bank but I'll be f*cked if someone is taking my hard earned.

PIN in the same bag? Oh for the love of...

  • Registered Users Posts: 741 ✭✭✭Stripey Cat

ATM code was written on a piece of paper in her bag?

    With her house alarm code?

    Holy God.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,598 ✭✭✭joe316

    Sorry but what a moron.

You won't even get that money back now.

+1 she might as well have brought them to the ATM. I put a C beside the 4 number code, that will keep them guessing what it is.

I lend you 20 euro for a month . In return for the loan, you say you will give me 2 euro in interest for the month. Then you turn up after a week and pay the twenty back without the interest. I'm not a bank anymore I'm now a kind of free credit provider.

    Utter non-story.

As for this one, what on earth did she have 600 quid in cash in her bag for?? I'm a 6 foot four hefty fella, and I wouldn't wander around with that kind of money. Why would a little old lady have it?

    Mary's PIN code reminder

    Bank of Ireland - 1234
    House code - 2233
    Permanent TSB - 3456

Some people shouldnt be allowed have money.

Joe, stop telling her that they are not watching her. They have her handbag with her house alarm code. You would be better telling her to change her alarm code instead of feeding her useless platitudes.

    Joe: it wont happen again

try telling that to the 1st caller joe

Tips on how to be more careful:

Don't put your code numbers in the same place as your credit cards and ATM cards!

Don;t write them down at all. Banks are dying to prove people have them written down, that way they don;t have to reimbourse the stolen money.

Or obfuscate it in such a way that you know it but another person wont. For example:

    Mary's mobile number

    087 2407 869

And the last 4 digits are the PIN number.

Dont have a piece of paper saying "My PIN numbers"
