Look as it is reposessions are a tiny figure compared to what they should be. So those in arrears are being helped out enormously as it is.
being in negative equity does not affect your ability to pay.

Only read today the banks have a name for people like Martin, obviously didn't take too much notice as I can't remember but it's something like a strategic non-payer/defaulter.

No but typical Irish acting like bold children they "dont want to" pay, the amount of ass holes who used to go on about their houses being worth half a million are the ones now who don't want to pay cause its worth a handful of magic beans.

Yes Jerome, very simple approach, by you!

What part of "Values may go down as well as up" didn't he get when he was in the banking sector?

Many sensible people did, taking into what they could afford if they ever got into financial difficulties, rather than looking for and taking loans in excess of a half million.

Bingo i bought a house based on what myself and the wife could comfortably afford and we are quite happy, this chat is all about idiots that borrowed many multiples of their income based on the bullcrap coming from the RTE and an inflated sense of their own importance.

Pisses me right off when people talk about this in general terms..we are not all idiots that cant do sums.

Values may not get back to where they were. However, if they ever get to a point where it makes economic sense for the banks to start repossessing then they will.
