you miss the point , the HSE is meant to provide services for people who are ill , the truth of the matter is that the HSE merley pays lip service to the needs of ill people , ive seen it myself with relatives who have a son - brother with severe psychological problems

with all due respect ,you are missing the point ,as this man shouldnt be on the air.

This has nothing to do with the hse,the girl didnt renew her medical card, the father failed in getting her to do it,he now blames himself ,but cant cope with it so ,blames everyone else he can live on air ,allowed by duffy to do so ..

    Pure grief porn.

    Dear Joe duffy..

You have reached a new low bringing this obviously still grieving man on the radio and asking the most insensitive questions about both his daughters suicide and the gaurdianship of his grandkids to make some point about the issuing of medical cards.

    You are a disgrace

    cordially

    Jaysoose.

email me that to him joe@rte.ie

Precisely why duffy shouldnt have him on the air.

No argument from me there. Perhaps some broadcasting standards are needed to stop this radio porn from playing out over the airwaves.

My post was in response to the remarks made of someone who obviously isn't in their right mind.

We get it, you think all working class folk are 'feckless'.

working class = people who work for the majority of their lives
welfare class = people on welfare for the majority of their lives

The government could have done very little to save your daughters life sir.

People in countries with the best health systems still kill themselves. If someone is determined to do it, they will do iy regardless of any intervention.

who cares if an impoverished young mum looses her medical card as long as retired pensioners earning 699 euro per week can keep thiers

ironically enough , it was the bould joe who spearheaded the wealthy pensioners campaign three years ago to have the medical card reinstated for high net worth over seventy year olds

Ah isn't the post service great?

I certainly have a history of complaining about the Government's counter productive levels of social welfare and benefits... But how you can call this an attack on the working classes (given that people on benefits arent working) is beyond me..

Just your line about people expecting everything from the State when talking about a girl who took her own life seems a bit 'cold'.

I agree that there are people out there happy to get by on welfare for all of their lives, but we don't know enough about this girl either.

She let her medical card run out. One that she was apparently entitled to.
Procrastination was the reason she didn't have one.

    Things I have learned today:

You don't need to put a stamp on letters to send them.

    Dental treatment is free.

"Spin is ruining this country, Joe"

It's not the approx 50-60 billion spent between benefits and the public health system every year so?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,718 ✭✭✭✭JonathanAnon

Be funny if the lads upstairs in RTE heard the show today, advocating free dental care and other services... Walk down to him and say "Joe, we're a bit short this week, could you give us a few oul shows for nothing"..

We'd see where he stands on community then.. :pac:

It's easy knowing that Joe has never been stuck for money, he just assumes that you can ask for credit whereever you like!

Strange one for Joe to come out with alrite, in the middle of a programme devoted to a lack of medical treatment due to an absence of med cards.
