Take the Medical Cards off wealthy pensioners and give them to the people who need them.

There's a great pub in Clarenbridge called Paddy Burkes. I wonder if it is any relation to this Paddy Burke.

I often think that the HSE is held responsible for Terminal illness

why don't whineline callers get on with their LIVES?

for some illness there are no magic bullets

get on , move on, live out your dreams

don't sit around the elephants graveyard demanding medical cards

    accept, move on

usual cowardly Liveline again today.. Bash the HSE for the hour, a faceless organisation who never provide a spokesperson.. Joe can say what he wants about them and they will never sue him....

Where's the discussion of Callelly, or paying the bondholders yesterday??

The cost of reviewing and re-issuing them must be enormous. Considering the country has about 5 million in it, issuing a medical card to everyone the day they are born and allowing it expire the day they die could actually save money.

    Medical cards for all!!!

Hovever I don't think the private med companies Mata Harney helped feather their, and her own, nests would appreciate such an anti business stance.

In the bed for three months?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 7,129 ✭✭✭my friend

Give everyone a Medical Card. OK

Then, with it issue a letter stating cutoffs

eg: couple retired good pension no mortgage - hand it back

if you use it and you are not entitled to it you may be subject to massive fines

if you use it and were entitled, well and good

    simple solution

I get the feeling that the people who are experiencing delays with their medical cards are making an absolute balls of their applications.

    3 months in Bed??

    a committed Rent Boy ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,564 ✭✭✭baldbear

Everyone who has a medical card should pay lets say €5.00 a week for it even those on the dole. Its only fair that some sort of a contribution is made.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,997 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Well clearly it is everybody's fault if someone is sick, and the government/HSE/etc need to be able to accommodate that one person without knowing specifics...

    Never happening.

Do you remember Brenda Power on newstalk. The HSE pulled all advertising from Newstalk because she had the stones (metaphorically speaking) to challenge them

You had me until here. Any solution involving medicine in Ireland must have massive amounts of bureaucracy attached to it. Its as necessary as the funding. You should know that by now.
