Ah yeah, I'd love to go back to the days where I was let into pubs underage with my friends, served 3 rounds of drink, and then when the pub gets busy, get your id checked and get kicked out after you've already spent a bomb.

And I will drink at home if I bloody well want.

Kids go to the fridge for a class of milk but get a glass of bud.

    They should've gone to Specsavers.

"There's nobody at home to turn on and off the lights for last orders"

    Bwahahahahaha.

This is taking the piss. Publicans can control the amount a person drinks?

Every pub I know has its barflys, the publicans know well that they sit in the pub from 12.00 to 9.00pm and drink away the families social welfare money. I've never seen them being refused, totally two faced argument.

VFI now want to tackle alcohol abuse in the home by encouraging them to go to the pub? Nuts.

Let me tell you this...price will not stop the abuse of alcohol.
Any alcoholic I know, price was the last thing on their mind...

[edit] actually nevermind alcoholics....price doesn't deter anyone...if it gets more expensive you simply drink more spirits to bulk up the beer buzz.

They're only worried about people abusing alcohol outside their pubs.

Our traditional pub culture is being destroyed by stay at home drinkers.

4 bottles of Heineken in a Dublin City Centre bar = €20+
20 bottles of Heineken for home consumption = €19.99
Listening to publicans logic on Liveline = Priceless
