    I know a welfare officer, the same scammers arrive in year in year out before xmas/summer holidays - Oh my oven/bed/fridge etc broke and she has to give them money towards a new one. They don't have to prove they bought it, if she doesn't they appeal it to her boss, she gets a rolicking and they get the money.

    Social welfare should be primarily services/etc, not straight up cash.
    • Back to school allowance - book & uniform vouchers.
    • This holy joe allowance - clothes vouchers.
    • Children's allowance - heating, food, childcare, etc. vouchers.
    • Etc.

    That way the money can only be spent on what it's designed for...

    There are generations of families that sit around and live oin welfare. By not getting tough on welfare they will always be on welfare. It's not meant to be for life. The poverty industry does them no favours in prolonging this situation.

    Agree with all of the above but there should be no grant for religion. Let them do it in their uniform if it means so much. Take the big day out of the communion and see the number of christenings plummet

    I've always argued this point, but usually the civil rights crowds are then up in arms saying "this is degrading"... People should have a choice either a) accept the free vouchers the State offer with whatever conditions come with them or b) DONT accept the free vouchers...

    Recently heard a voxpop on Newstalk and a scum salt of the earth type was saying " ya know its all de people wit jobs an all, they should be paying more, I'm on the dole I cant get by nor nothin" sums it up really for some in society who really feel they are entitled.
