Publishing piece thats already on a blog

    I have a short story that I published on my blog. I wish to enter it into a creative writing competition, one of the prizes being having the story published.

    Is it considered published if it's on a blog?

    Technically yes, but if it hasn't been widely distributed, and you take it down, you should get away with it.

    I wonder if that would disqualify you from entering competitions too. For that matter if I post a story here for review and then change it, would it be considered 'published online'?

    Yes, it could be. If you want to get a critique without the risk of publishing, then post in Write club, which is private.

    However, I think competitions should specify in detail what they consider published.
