I am interested in rebuilding two 24v hitachi Batteries that are ready to calf.

Has any one purchased and replaced cells in these? NiCd or Nimh preferably.

Im looking for someone to point me in the right direction. I see them on ebay for not too much (there sub c Batteries btw) but all from china so probably dubious.

Found a few american sites like http://www.onlybatteries.com and http://www.megabatteries.com. But shipping costs more than the purchase.

Anyone do this or know where to source. Thanks.

P.s hope im in right section if not please move thanks.

I doubt you will have much luck getting just the cells - hope I'm wrong. This guy mentions battery rebuilding maybe he could help.

Do you have any idea how many cells, and of what capacity are in each pack? That at least would give an indication of whether it's worthwhile even considering doing, as opposed to buying a complete new pack.

I've used batterycity.ie in the past for normal NiMH rechargeables and chargers and have had no problems with them. Don't let the .ie domain fool you though, they're actually based in Denmark! I see they have some sub-C cells for sale, see here, they seem to be mainly under the section that caters for RC model car battery packs, but if they're the right capacity that isn't really an issue I'd assume. They also have replacement batter packs for a wide range of power tools, so that may be worth a look too.

'Scuse my ignorance but what is a 'sub c' battery?

At 1.2v each i will need 20 per pack. buying a new battery may be best option at this stage when you factor in time and effort and potential for me to fu3k it up:rolleyes:.

Nimh seems to be the better option alright. Would be 167 euros with batterycity, with free shipping it seems.

I will price complete units and decide then. Thanks

    Actually it cheaper

Think il purchase pre made unit.

A sub c battery is mainly used in power tools an RC car battery Packs as Alun said. A bit smaller than a standard C Battery. Sometimes comes with tabs.
