As stated above do you get charged for using your gps on your iphone. The gps system on my iphone seems to work without any internet connection, no megabytes used equals no charge?

    Depends on your network..

    Depends on your network..
You can not be charged for using the GPS chip in your phone to get your longitude and latitude. Networks don't even have the capability to measure it. If you had an app whose only purpose was to constantly query your GPS chip and display your longitude and latitude all the time, you would never be charged a cent (your battery life might be shot though)

However, when people say "using your GPS", they tend to include using their 'maps' application which uses the GPS chip to provide more information, like a graphical representation. The maps app may or may not use network data, which is the same as if you opened up a browser and started surfing the web.

So OP, the answer is it depends on what you mean by "using your GPS"

It's an iphone, that maps aren't stored on the phone so if you use an app that uses gps your going to use data in the app.
Your correct the GPS chip won't use data but the iphone has a-gps like a lot of other phones and will use data.

That depends on the application. The TomTom app, for example, stores all the maps on the phone. There are lots of apps that use GPS but don't use any maps, like apps which just track distance travelled, or your current speed.

A-GPS can use data, but if your data connection is turned off, you can still use standalone GPS and you will not be charged
