Went down to the docks today to get a few pictures of the new Galway Lifeboat that arrived on Tuesday.

Is Binny the name of the boat? Where does it originate?

That's the name. As the boat was funded by a benefactor in the UK it is probably a pet name for them or someone belonging to them. Not too sure if that is the case but the most likely case as a lot of lifeboats are name like that and there are a few very strange names around the fleet.

I enjoy your images but Pix.ie's down-scaling isn't the best. Too sharp at times.

Viewing the originals gives optimum quality but you have to pan around too much so you don't get the full image in one go (even on a 1920×1080 panel).

Perhaps creating "web" versions of your images for posting on boards might be an idea, using Photoshop or Paint.net.

    Just a suggestion.

Will bear that in mind, thanks, I had noticed what you are saying a few times.

    Nice pictures.
-I don;t think they should be on that boat while its lifted!

Nice pics and a nice new rig.

The Lifeboats are an amazing organisation. Consider the work they do and that they receive nothing at all from our Government. Then consider our native professional charity sector and the high pay, the fat infrastructure and the ability of money to disappear down a vortex. I always chuck them a few quid when I can.

The launching system is designed to allow the crew to be on board when being lowered or raised for a quick get away or recovery, they have engines running before they hit the water, un-hook and off they go.

The Severn Class for the area is based in Aran. They're some beast of a machine.
