Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've recently been feeling a bit devoid of inspiration, what sites or pictures or movies/music do you all use to feel stimulated?
I mostly shoot people (fashion, portriats etc) but iv been wanting to branch out a bit and just have fun with photography again :)

Try something completely different and outside your comfort zone.

Maybe shoot some film if you have not done so before.

Maybe go out with a borrowed lens that is not familiar to you.

Where are you living? If it's in Dublin then you have a million things to choose...local market, archeticture etc.

I'm for always trying your hand at new things, tried some martial arts recently, some photos here.
I'm going to try gig photogrpahy and a bit more rubgy soon.

If you say you want to have fun then why not invite some friends with kids over and snap them playing.
Or walk around town/whereeve and take photos of numbers only (someone here maybe did this recently) or just focus on one colour.

Or try to reproduce the m&ms water drop photo

Go out at a differnet time- dawn or late evening.

    shoot yourself.

This will certainly help cure your longing for inspiration however just be careful not to get blood on the carpet.

    obvious one...enter some competitions.
There's the regular one here, try DPreview.com challenges, they always have a lot running.

sounds stupid but open a dictionary and whatever word you see first take a photo with that word as the theme...

Good ideas all around! :) I love photography, but i find myself getting niched, like only doing portraits and people and fashion, which is great, but i want to go back to when it was more whimsical and fun and less serious and 'professional'. I use the term professional loosely, but you know what i mean!

I love this time of year ago, so i was thinking of doing some dusk/night shots around the city.

I posted the same question only a few months ago and just to let you know I'm out of the rut, I'm back to enjoying it and being inspired.

What i done was took everything i learned over the years, all the little technical details of photography and........tried my hardest to forget about it. I found that i had become to technical and less creative, over thinking everything. so i took a few weeks off, forgot about it all and just started arising about with the camera again and it worked. Eventually i got 'the shot' that made me feel like i was back on track and that i did have the ability to be creative without over analyzing everything.

Do one thing every day that scares you
    Eleanor Roosevelt

Apply the same to your photography
