Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

GRO, Possible to Order BMD certs by Parish.

I want to order all birth marriage and death certs for one name in one particular parish.

I know the GRO records are arranged by Poor Law Union / registration districts, but there are thousands of my name in the particular district I'm interested in searching.

However, I know my family mainly comes from one parish and that
on the actual certs it normally gives the Parish and townland.

    According to this site
    http://www.cigo.ie/campaigns_gro.html
Although much of the GRO's records have now been computerised

It would appear that a lot of the early Marriages and Deaths are not computerised, but the following are:
    Births from January 1864
    Marriages from 1920
    Deaths from 1926

So, is it possible for me to order certs from the GRO in Roscommon / Irish Life Center by parish,
    for the computerised years?

    thanks

Civil records are recorded by registration district rather than parish. If you want to search by parish then then you would have to check church records. Note that parishes are different for Catholic and Church of Ireland denominations

Once you have the correct references from the BMD Index you can order certs from GRO Office in Roscommon for all civil records back to the start - i.e. 1864 (or to 1845 for non-Catholic marriages).
