iOS5 - Download, Installation, Errors

yeah - downloaded it last night

Took me about 6 minutes to download it.

Updated successfully, along with Lion 10.7.2

My previously broken download came in fairly quickly the second time, about 25 mins instead of an hour and a half.

Just got the 3200 error though. Hmm.

ive downloaded ok but it says it couldnt backup the phone and if i continue ill lose all contents on it.i have all my apps etc on another pc.What do i do??

Just got the could not restore error. Now the phone looks fecked. Screen telling me to connect the USB cable but it's already connected

I'd cancel and do a full backup first.

To everyone having trouble restoring:

Try putting the iDevice in DFU mode. It should then restore. The instructions are for iPhone but will work the same for iPad.

If that still doesn't work, make sure you haven't edited your Hosts file.

What is DFU mode and how do you put the iPhone in that mode?

What do you reckon to putting this on a 2-year-old 3GS that's starting to crash? Will it wreck the thing or will it be able to handle it?

Took less than half an hour to download on my crappy 8mb vodafone line, only 700.3MB though?

iPad currently backing up very slowly. Fingers and everything else crossed.......

The iOS is suitable for 3GS and iOS 5 might even solve your crashing problems.

My 3gs 2 year old too!

Having the same issues with the backup issue and my ipad 2.

Wtf?

It syncs fine (which indicates it's backup'ed as normal, doesn't it?)

What do you mean by start again? Your IPSW should be already downloaded, just backup and then update to that IPSW.

Google for where itunes saves the IPSW for your OS

I got a similar error where it said iTunes could not restore iPhone because of an unknown error.

The update took ages and then got that message at the end.:(

If you are choosing to "Restore" rather than "Update" (as you would be if in DFU mode) just make sure to have a backup of your iDevice. When it successfully restores it will ask you to chose a backup to restore to.
