Message app sends iMessage if you message someone else with iOS5

As far as I know it's integrated with the normal Messages app.

Its just in messages, if the contact your texting has ios5, the texts will be blue instead of green

How long are peoples back ups taking? Ive a 16GB iPad with about 6GB free and its taking half an hourish to back up only to trip up when extracting the software afterwards.

The iMessages come up in a blue bubble within the messenger app.

As far as i know, dont both devices need to have ios5 for it to work?

put in in dfu mode and then try and restore it. make sure you have a backup tho or everything will be gone for good!

21:15pm from 18:00 [6pm to after 9pm] to disconnect.

Two hours downloading ~ OK so some of the fun was in that ~ but another hour later for a usable phone ! Underwhelmed tbh.

my iphone has been 'backing up' for about 90 minutes now

its a 16gb 4, pretty full. anyone else finding it taking long during its back up process?

If you're using a Mac you should get the latest system update as well. I updated iTunes last night, and got the same error message just now while updating the iPad. I'm running 10.7.1, and 10.7.2 is there now. It wasn't last night. There's also something called a Lion Recovery Update as well for those using 10.7

It might help. Anyway, Apple recommends installing the latest update for your computer when getting restore or backup problems with an iOS device.

Got past extracting software only to be met by the following:

The ipad cannot be restored at this time as the ipad software update server could not be contacted or is currently unavailable.

Please try again later.

**** sake i updated itunes and then the ipad2 but got that same message about restoring, ****ing waste of an hour!

For those who have eircom broadband and successfully downloaded update. How long did it take to download?

Took maybe 30 mins but that's with updating itunes, dowloading, installing, restores etc.
668MB to download.

I just checked for new software in itunes and it was very straightforward.
Must say it's not hogging my 3gs at all, feels actually smoother now than on 4.3.5.

Only issue I got was a a 3194 error because I had a entry in my hosts file for apple from an earlier jailbreak, oops.
Removed that, restarted itunes and voila!
