Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

They were certainly nominated in the best spin on JNLR figures category.

Some newstalk head tweeted about lack of resources v Rte. Message to him, it's about quality not resources. No sign of nova or 4fm making impact. Did they not nominate themselves

Everybody nominates themselves, that's how it works!

Looking through some of the past winners, it doesn't seem to have much to do with quality either.

Anyone know where to find a list of the Judges for the PPI's? I tried the PPi site but can't seem to see it. I'm presuming they are industry professionals.

Why so many awards categories for a country with little broadcasters, mostly in the average to bad category?

    Cian McCormack:eek:

A funeral director would have more animation in their voice.

    Jeesh.

Who's turn is is next year, laughable and silly and totally irrelevant.

RTE get €160 tax from ever household in the land.Of course they are way more resourced. They have the TV Tax money and the Advertisement revenue.Newstalk do a superb job with very limited resources.

Like someone said in another thread; so there's one for everyone in the audience.
I mean they gave one to LMFM for it's coverage of the Leinster final punch up and referee mugging...I listen to LMFM fairly regularly...they do a hell of a lot better than this and since this was a Louth/Metah issue of course they were going to give extensive and in-depth coverage.
Reward ceremonies in general don't sit well with me, even as far up as the Oscars...they're all self congratulatory back slapping and too much faith is placed in their results as being somehow relevant to the wider audience.

Fair play to anyone who won an award but, at least with radio, the real rewards are attracting listeners and advertisers, not the praise of others in the industry...

Given that so many people watch stuff like x-factor and buy Jedward CDs and listen to X-posé-stylle "celeb" gossip as if it were news, there's an argument that good radio and listeners / advertisers don't really go together.

Not across-the-board true, obviously, but there is some truth in it, unfortunately, and that creates a catch-22, because good show prep and research - combined with taking chances and going outside the safe playlist zone - makes good radio, but the resources aren't there.

Very true. There is little connection between good radio and ratings.

Does anyone know anything about this programme? Who participated in it?

The only Radio 1 programmes about any census that I can remember were in the series 13000 Boxes, presented by Rachael English, but that dealt with the 2006 census, and was probably broadcast too long ago to qualify for the recent awards.
