Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi, I am looking for any relatives of David Condon baptisted in Blarney June 8th 1862. I have church certificate. Father: James Condon. Mother: Mary Hourihan. Witnesses were Hession from Blarney.

David joined the Royal Artillary in June of 1883 giving his age as 20 years and 1 month which would estimate his birthday was in May 1863.
    Can anyone help with this?
    Joe

there's births for two sisters of David included in the extracted civil records on FamilySearch - Mary born 11 Feb 1865, and Catherine 30 Aug 1867

    see : https://www.familysearch.org/search/records#count=20&query=%2Bsurname%3Acondon~%20%2Bfather_givenname%3AJames~%20%2Bmother_givenname%3AMary~%20%2Bmother_surname%3AHourihan~&collection_id=1584963

Blarney is in Cloyne diocese so not included on IrishGenealogy website - but records are available on microfilm in the National Library on microfilm ref. Pos. 5006 and 5007. Baptisms are included back to 1791 and marriages to 1778. (there are some large gaps in these records)

Hi Shane, Thank you for that information.

Something I did not mention is that on David's Attestment papers to the RA, he entered his place of birth as St Mary's Cork. :(

My deceased brother told me that David had a cousin also called David who went to the USA in the 1890s. I am wondering if the Blarney David baptism cert is for the cousin!

    Any more thoughts?

Note that the area immediately north of the current city boundaries, not far from Blarney, is also known as St. Mary's.

According to following link, St Mary's Church in Waterloo was the former parish church of RC parish of Blarney: http://variouscplaces.net/cloyne/blarney.htm
I don't see any references to the parish as a whole being called St Mary's but if the two births Shane mentioned are your David's sisters, could this explain it?

Then, I don't know if this is right parish or if you've seen this link:

A big Thank You to all responders. This has cleared up some doubts I had about my Grandfather!
Through the Irish Family History Foundation website I have the birth place of David,1862, Ballygibbon. Mary,1865, Ballygibbeen and Catherine,1867 Waterloo. Their parents James Condon and Mary Hourihan were married Blarney June 1861.
    Fantastic! :)
