Looking to pick up second/third/etc hand medical style books for my grandmother. She has a keen interest in that area and I'm trying to support her active mind. Any idea where I could find some of the aforementioned books in the city area? Tried the usual secondhand areas; carboots, Vibes & Scribes, charity shops. Any other ideas? Thanks!

Waterstones in UCC specialise in 3rd level books and they have second hand and even free books at times (the latter resulted in me getting an anatomy book there a few years back when I was in buying something else. It could have been a once off mind. It was a box of books in the corner marked "free" :)).

They are good to deal with and could point you in the right direction anyway.

Thanks! Never thought about there at all, will check it out tomorrow.

There's also that place on Cross St. beside the courthouse. Never been there myself but the sign says the do 3rd level books so you might find something.

UCC noticeboard is littered with ads at this time of year by medical students trying to get rid of their books, which even after a year are out of date as new editions come in. You could also try John Smith's bookshop in UCC, but all the best deals (the ones they would buy back) may be gone at this stage.

I'm sure you mean John Smiths? There's the Waterstones in the City Centre.

OP, you could try the student bookshop in the Student Union. And as others have said, John Smiths, the notice board in the Student Centre and also, I think there's an online version of that notice board, but not sure of what traffic it gets.

If you ask in the UCC forum of Boards you could get also get something.
