Festivals ideas for Westport?

    Tech/Gaming Festival
    A tech festival for Westport could be huge. The amount of tech people employed around Ireland, to bring them to Westport for a week long festival. The like of Google, Microsoft Facebook etc the companies are endless. There could be talks, seminars, company recruitment and promotions. Entrepreneur giving advice, selling their wares. These type of events are huge in the States, and could be big here too. Tech employees haven't been hit by the recession, the same way as other industries. This could start off fairly small and develop over the coming year.

    With a gaming festival, getting the most popular games, eg PES and Call of Duty with knock out stages, and having cash prizes for the winners. This could run over a few weeks, during the week, in the venues that hold the weddings, so the venues wouldn't be used during the week. Or it could be held in April/May or September/October when it would be quieter around town.

    Has anyone else got any ideas of what type of festivals they would like to see in Westport.

    I see Hotel Westport are advertising a Gay/Lesbian weekend in the near future. The pink market is a interesting one and may bring a diverse cultural perspective to the Whest.

    This could be big if it is marketed, targeted correctly.
