Cutting trees License???????

Hi folks, Just wondering do i need a license to cut down trees that are 60 ft tall pine trees in a site i own. I wanted to get cutting but a friend mentioned that i need paperwork and with the council calling in and out for planning that i would get caught is he right or will i just start chopping this weekend Thanks in…

Some are within 100 feet of a dwelling others are about 150 to 200 away so does that mean i am ok to cut them all
