Help me choose...Budget Mango vs Gingerbread?

    Looking to upgrade (PAYG only) and caught pretty much between these two (although any other €200ish option will be considered, new or used):

    Samsung Galaxy S

    VS

    LG Optimus 7

    Both great phones in their respective OSs bt not sure how the two compete.
    Any opinions/ experiences of the two?
    Mango vs Gingerbread?
    Battery life, screen etc?
