Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

John Murray show and Masterchef commentary

Who is the commenter/researcher on the JM show who is giving her opinions on the RTE Masterchef series ?

Don't mean to go hard on her but she is currently doing my head in.
Perhaps she is meant to represent the average clueless watcher at home ??
She mis-pronounced turbot and a few other culinary terms and is giving what sounds like her unqualified opinion on who might win the series.

Sorry.. I got out of the wrong side of bed this morning !

She's seems to be becoming a regular contributor. I think she's quite amusing and quick-witted - but her pronunciation is woeful.

She's a multi-purpose "cri'ic" (critic) who'll comment on anything - especially reality TV programmes. John was quick to correct "header-scented" (heather-scented") lamb to avoid confusion.

Why does RTE permit such lousy pronunciation on the airwaves? Send 'em all to elocution class!

I was half thinking about starting a thread on this sort of thing. <br />
It seems to have become standard practice for television shows to be propped up by discussions on various radio shows the next day. Murray and Mooney are by far the worst culprits for this.

Could be worse. She could talk in a Dort accent.

I don't object to her, or anyone else's, accent on RTE. It's the poor pronunciation that is so irritating. You don't need to change your acent to pronounce a 't' or a 'th' properly.

Her name is Alison Spittle and she's a comedian from Weat Meath I think. I thought she was great!

You're right. She is funny. I should try to be more tolerant - or save my frustration for the sports reporters!
