Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Lads n Ladies - isn't today the day that we hear the definite proposals for CAP going forward? I thought it was being announced at 2pm today but can see anything on it.

    Anybody hear anything concrete yet?

had a quick scan down through it.

doesnt seem to have anything major that hadnt been leaked already.

Still not sure about the role of this reference year in an area based payment scheme, but as more details emerge hopefully it will make more sense.

Tippman you are on the ball, 8 full pages in this wks comic+ a big interview by Justin Mccarthy with Larry Goodman- "a coupled payment of in the region of 350e/cow should be paid to suckler farmers"

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Might aswell be asking the barber if you need a haircut:D:D

If 2014 is a full reference year, Im going selling all my maps, anyone takers for a thousand an acre. What are they saying will be the rate per ha? less than 250/ha and they can stick it, eventually the term freedom to farm may be realised

From today's comic it looks like a very complicated set-up altogether.

The most someone with high value entitlements, i.e. €500/ha (€202/ac) could get would be around €270/ha (€110/ac). That's a fair drop on 100 acres.

The 'greening' rate of €81/ha (€33/ac) is so low it wouldn't justify claiming it, they can stick that. The return of setaside, permanent pasture restrictions etc will make this unattractive to anyone on good land.

Although we are suckler farmers, I think to expect other farmers to take a cut to allow a coupled payment per suckler cow is unfair and will be resisted.
Of course Larry G is in favour of it, it will allow him to pay less for cattle and he'll have security of supply.
Remember when the slaughter premium went, cattle prices went up overnight.

Is the SFP going to become irrelevant by 2019 once these reduced rates and inflation eats into it? The only certainty is that it will put a floor under land rental prices, which is what its always done ever since area aid came in.
