Ive noticed in the past few weeks that on Mondays the Newbridge/Kildare train slows down just outside Hazelhatch and usually arrives several mins late into each of the stations after that any reason for this ..seems only on mondays it happens ??

Probably a Monday only service from the sticks is ahead of it.

They know you're sad and upset that it's no longer the weekend and are doing their best to give you those few extra minutes to gather and compose yourself against the depression of the week ahead.

No, some loose coupled 4 wheelers :D

A likely explanation for some local trains to run late would be the little known Sandite train. It runs very early on Monday as required to help with track adhesion issues and when it does treat the PW, it sometimes will delay things a little around the Dublin region.

Could it also be down to engineering works over the weekend, as they do not want to take chances with the track.

Plus....during the Autumn leaf fall, adhesion is worse anyway, thereby worsening the schedule.
