    Do these screen guards offer any protection against the screen breaking if you drop the phone ?

    Not really no. Silicone case is a better bet.

    Because the iPhone's screen glass extents to the corners, a bumper is a very good idea.

    Gorilla Glass, however, is fantastic, and reduces the need for a screen protector greatly.
