Actor Joseph Hyungmin 'Joe' Son has reportedly been placed in solitary confinement after allegedly killing his cellmate in Wasco State Prison.

The 40-year-old, who played Oddjob parody Random Task in 1997's Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, was sentenced to life imprisonment on torture charges last month.

Son had been convicted in relation to the gang rape of a woman in 1990 after he and an accomplice abducted her at gunpoint on Christmas Eve.

Superior Court Judge Francisco Briseno suggested that Son may be eligible to apply for parole despite his life sentence.

Son, a former mixed martial arts fighter, was caught via a DNA sample extracted when he violated parole for a felony vandalism conviction in 2008.
