Distasteful jokes aside, what else is there to say?

More about swinging doors, crooked card games and sasparilla agrying up the blood.

I nearly fell off my chair reading the first page of this thread.

Bad doesn't cover it. The idea that any member of the public needs an automatic weapon to defend themselves, for example, is simply ludicrous.

Well, if it's a consolation, automatic weapons are not legal in California.

Actually, it's interesting to note that legally held automatic weapons have only ever been known to have been used in two murders in the US since the NFA was enacted in 1934. One of them was a cop who used his issue weapon to kill an informant in 1988, the other was a doctor who shot another doctor with his personally owned weapon in 1992.

These threads have gotten rather formulaic:

-gun violence in US, illegal possession and handling
-same rhetorical crap about liberal gun laws
-pointing out the gun laws were actually quite strict, but violated in the incident
    -upholding socialist european utopia
    -pointing out swedish gun culture
    -....mad, norweigian lunatics?

regardless, they are too many in production circulation too freely available and I doubt possesion punishment is severe enough.. only two people being registered murdered with legally owned is still hard to believe and I can't be bothered to check that does not cover all the tragic accidents. in trailer parks, for example when dwayne gone had too much hooch and shot poppa wyatt right where he sit with a double barrel

Yeah, but usually it's Swiss laws that get brought up, not Swedish. Though I believe Swedish laws aren't too bad.

I assume you've never been to Switzerland where guns are a part of life for many. A similar percentage of gun ownership and yet more people die from stabbings each year. There is definitely a problem with the US when it comes to these massacres, but access to firearms is only one part of the issue.

i'm in Switzerland at the moment and have been to America. It seems to me that Swiss people in general are just more level headed and less likely to just shoot their problems away.

The way that I see it is that American gun laws don't suit the american culture, Swiss gun laws suit Swiss gun , therefore American gun las need to be tightened and Swiss gun laws should remain unchanged

why do we have to be inundated with mundane stories from america - this is ireland - do they get to see our high wind warnings, weather updates, or that some random hair salon got blasted. who cares. leave them at it, ,just leave us out of it. we don't CARE!! ;)

So those of us in America who are level-headed (and there are a fair few of us) should be penalised because of the people who aren't? Let's ban all alcool because a few people can't figure out the concept of not driving drunk.

Aww yes i do love this place, if this had happened in Ireland, i bet none of these smart ass replys would be here and most of the posters who said them would attack anyone who would make a joke of suck a situation but because it was in the u.s.a its a free for all, no respect shown for murder victims.
Lets put it to the test shall we, next time there is some innocent people murdered in Ireland i shall make loads of jokes and see the reaction.

    Tried that, auto-ban.

    Hypocrisy wins.
