If you really think it's luck that keeps him a top manager and getting good results you should maybe follow another sport.

    you kidding right?

What's "happy days" in Estonian 'cos I'm sure they're thinking the same as we are.

How do we get to Estonia? Ryanair?
    Ryanair on the ball.

€280.77 to fly out on the 10th and back on the 12th

He has been incredibly lucky as Ireland manager.

If you can't see that then you should etc etc

Only ever lost to France and Russia in a competitive game under Trap...think its fair to say we wont be losing to Estonia..this is why its great to have such a legend of a manager like Trap no matter the quality of football we get the results.

Estonia are probably thinking yay we got Ireland.

Mainly they'd be thinking "Yay! We made it to the playoffs! We'll take our chances against Ireland TYVM." But also a contingent of them will say "Fackin' seeded playoffs. Unfair! (and they would have a point. Commendations to UEFA for actually announcing it beforehand this time around.)

    Just have to win now!!!

Yeah, they would have been wanting us or the Czech's, not that that takes anything away from us drawing them. They always knew they were the weakest team in the play-off's

Is it expensive to get to Estonia? :pac:

In fairness to Trap he justs plays the percentages. In poker if you do that you'll more than often come out on top, and as such, be deemed lucky.

What the hell is Michael Ring TD doing there? I hope we didn't pay for him to go over

If you listened to the preamble the bald guy said there was a meeting of EU sports ministers on later, and Michael Ring is Minister of State at the Department of Tourism, Culture and Sport

Estonia and at home in the 2nd leg! If we f*ck this up, we'll forever bottle any big game. Just man up and put these guys to the sword. No excuses.

The Henry handbal...... Oh what's the use.

    LMAO.

    Georgia peno at home?
    Russia away?
    Armenian incidents?
    Italy red card?
Georgia being played at neutral venue?

    oh whats the use.

    Do your bloody research.

True, but it's up to €303.77 now anyway. Either way I won't be going, so it's a moot point...for me anyway.

afaik there's only a 500 ticket allocation for Estonia away

the negativity here is disgusting its refreshing to hear a real fan. We have the best chance possible to make a major tournament and all everyone can say is "estonia got a good draw"

    Trap got results. Simple as.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,214 ✭✭✭Cypher_sounds

If we fuck this up i wont be blaming Trap..it will be the players to blame(mental block getting to major tournamet) because our players are better than the Estonians.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,293 ✭✭✭MayoForSam

If we can't manage to beat Estonia over 2 legs then we most certainly do not deserve to qualify for Euro 2012.

Load up on the cheap ciggies when you're over there lads ;).

Im as pessimistic about the Irish football team set up as the next man but cmon lets enjoy the fact that we have 2 very realistic chances to make a major finals for the first time in 10 years

Can anyone calculate the odds on gettin Estonia and getting them at home in the 2nd leg?

Off the top of my head, 25% chance of getting Estonia, 50% chance of getting 2nd leg at home, so 12.5% chance of getting Estonia+second leg at home

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,640 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

    Bit late with this but...

    GET IN!!!

So excited about our chances now. We won't get a better opportunity to make it to a major tournament than this for a while.

1/8 if you mean maths odds.

Can anyone calculate the odds on gettin Estonia and getting them at home in the 2nd leg?
It was an 8 to 1 chance at the start of the draw (1/4 x 1/2 = 1/8)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,911 ✭✭✭bradlente

Any idea when the home tickets go on sale?Me and a friend were at the match the other night and he said he heard over the loudspeaker that the crowd in attendance that night have 1st preference on the playoff game,I didn't hear anything though.

If it was a completely fair draw, it would just be 12.5% chance surely, the same as any other outcome?

Mate, I have been biting my lip the last few days not to outright abuse you for some of your absolutely shocking opinions so it is just irony of the highest order that you should call me clueless.

You listed one instance of Trap being unlucky, I listed 6 where he was terribly lucky.

"Clueless" can really only apply to your side of the 'argument' here.

Thats what i was thinking, when you think about it we had a 1 in 8 chance of that happening.

The odds aren't really that long on it at all.

Just delighted with this draw, the best chance to qualify for a Major in a decade..... The FAI better get Traps new contract together pronto:D

ive just realised that now :(

still, i have credits already for away games this year, so i would have a chance, though we have a core group of 1000 who go to almost all games and then another 2,000 who would go to 2 or 3 per campaign.

I'd be interested to know what the Estonian fans would be saying. Anyone know of a forum where they would be known to conglomerate?

Well now don't misunderstand. I can only be optimistic now and have always been on the fence regarding Trap but some of the posts in recent days showing a complete lack of knowledge of Irish footballing history have been sad.

In this particular instance I don't think it can be argued Trap has not been a lucky manager for Ireland.

    Ireland, FAI HQ: 12.10
"Fantastic- we got Estonia, high five!"

    Estonia, EJL HQ: 12.10
"Fantastic- we got Ireland, high five!"

I was on another forum and when we were drawn against Estonia, I posted: "Yes, we got Estonia!"

I looked at the post above mine and it said: "We got Ireland! Fantastic!"

I think we're both feeling a little cocky.
